Basil Davis - 2003-2005

History of the Men's Association

It was some 15 years ago that Basil Davis dreamed of the idea of a Men's Ministry for St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Parish. It was mentioned to a few men of the Parish, who thought it was an excellent idea, but little progress was made and the idea was scrapped. Years later Basil Davis continued his quest to start a Men's Ministry.

His inspiration was strengthened with the support, spiritual direction and mentoring of Monsignor Simeon Roberts, Rector of the Parish, and with determination and zeal together with a few able men at his side in 2003, they together formed the Men's Ministry and called it St. Francis Xavier Catholic Men's Association.

Election of officers to serve on the first Executive Committee was conducted on the May 19th, 2003 under the supervision of Rev. Fr. Kendrick Forbes, the then Associate Rector. The Association grew in numbers, attracting men of every persuasion, from fifteen (15) to a present membership of forty-five (45).
